“Do you understand what I’m saying?”

I need verbal confirmation before I proceed. I need to know that I’m not my father, and i’m not just babbling on with narcissistic nonsense in a tone so grating it makes you want to cut your ears off, each sentence more cliche and pointless and out of place than the last.

I listen to him speak and think that there is no way I’m a good writer. The apple would have to fall so far from that tree.
