Back to Earth

One of the less enjoyable things about raving is coming back from the rave — rejoining sober society back on earth, and still in the habit of looking strangers in the eyes with childlike curiosity and love and feeling them unable to reciprocate. 

You feel this little jaded rejection several times until you learn that it isn’t the optimal strategy for interacting with strangers and so you inevitably devolve back into another one of Them.
